Parish Organizations, Outreach, and Programmes

Parish Organizations

Choir: Meets at 10:00am Sunday Morning; new members welcome.
Organist and Choir Director: Owen Stephens.

Sunday School: Contact: Mary Ann Dufour; teachers & helpers always welcome and needed.

Sanctuary Guild: Contact: Aggie Langille or Jacoba Morash; new members welcome.

Kingston Guild: Contact: Dora Cochrane.

Men’s Club: Contact: Scotty Cameron.  Breakfast meeting after the 8:00am service, first Sunday of the Month.

Parish Outreach & Programmes

Parish Food-Bank: The Parish operates a small food-bank out of the Parish Hall that provides dry and canned goods to those in need. Contact: the Rector, (Rev’d) David Curry.

Seniors’ Drop-in: Thursdays, 1:30-3:00pm Parish Hall.  Contact: Emma DeVenney.

Weekly Service of ‘Prayers & Praises’ at Haliburton Place, Hants Community Hospital.

Monthly Communion Services at Windsor Elms Nursing Home, 3:30pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month; Dykeland Lodge at 11:00am Fourth Friday of the Month; Gladys Manning Retirement Home at 3:30pm on the Fourth Friday of the Month.

The Parish hosts the only Valley service of the Atlantic Ministry of the Deaf on the Fourth Sunday of the Month at 2:00pm with a luncheon following. Contact: Robert Tupper through Atlantic Relay Service.

2nd Windsor Brownies/Sparks meets in the Parish Hall, Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 7:30pm. Contact: Lisa Johnson.

The Parish also participates in a number of other initiatives such as The Missions to Seafarers and the Waterville, Nova Scotia Youth Centre, Christmas Stocking Programme.

The Parish sponsors a Fall and Spring “Newfoundland & Country Evening of Musical Entertainment”, providing a venue for local talent. The dates for 2009/2010 are: 7:00pm Saturday, October 3rd and 7:00pm Saturday, April 17th.

The 11th Annual Parish Talent & Variety Show: 7:00pm, Saturday, October 24th in the Parish Hall.

The Annual Parish Supper: 4:30-6:00pm, Saturday, November 21st in the Parish Hall.

New Year’s Day Levée – Parish Hall – following the 10:00am Holy Communion service, Friday, January 1st, 2010. Open to the wider community.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper: 4:30-6:00pm, Tuesday, February 16th in the Parish Hall.

4th Annual Lobster Supper: 4:30-6:00pm, Saturday, May 8th, Take-out or Eat-in!

The Parish hosts an Advent/Christmas Service of Lessons & Carols for King’s-Edgehill School, Grades 7-11, faculty, parents & friends: 4:30pm Sunday, November 29th, 2009.

The Parish hosts a Choral Evensong for the King’s-Edgehill School Cadet Corps, 6:30pm Sunday, May 2nd, 2010.

Christ Church Book Club: Open to the whole community, the Christ Church Book Club meets in the Coronation Room of the Parish Hall at 7:30pm on the first Tuesday of the month. The dates for 2009/2010 are: October 6th, November 3rd, December 1st, February 2nd and May 4th.

Christ Church “Cinema Paradiso” Movie Nights: Open to the whole community, the Christ Church “Cinema Paradiso” is held on the fourth Thursday of the Month at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall. The dates for 2009/2010 are: September 24th, October 22nd, November 26th, January 28th, February 25th, March 25th, April 22nd, May 27th.

Christ Church Advent Programme: Each year there is a special Advent programme, open to the whole Community. The programme for 2009 is “Readings from T.S. Eliot’s ‘Murder in the Cathedral’”, an hour long programme, 7-8:00pm on Sunday, December 13th.

Christ Church Lenten Teaching Series: This year the topic will be “The Creeds”. Tuesday evenings, 7:30pm in the context of Holy Communion, February 23rd, March 2nd, March 16th and March 23rd. Open to the whole community.

Confirmation Classes: 4:45-5:15pm, Monday Evenings, Room # 204, King’s-Edgehill School Academic Building. For children of Parishioners and for students of the School of Anglican, United and Lutheran affiliation at KES. The dates are: January 11th, 18th & 25th; February 8th, 15th, & 22nd; March 1st & 8th. Contact: (Rev’d) David Curry.

Family Services: Once a month, a Sunday service at 10:30am involving the Sunday School and Confirmands. The dates are: September 20th, October 8th, November 15th, December 13th, 2009; January 17th, February 21st, March 21st, April 18th, May 16th & June 13th, 2010. All welcome.
